A Risk Worth Taking
The National Homosexual Conference risked much in bringing together homosexuals from around Australia. Beyond implicit concerns around violence and arrest, anxieties existed about fair representation of homosexuals in the media and whether the heterosexual audience would really access their messages. Further, real danger was associated with a lack of public voices. While there were some other understandings of risk, NHC particularly represented various socials risks as necessary to face in order to progress homosexual rights in Australia.
